EPISODE 3 - 22 October 2012 Mondays with Myrt -
CO-HOST: Russ Worthington

TOPICS: Permira to purchase Ancestry.com for $1.6 billion. Russ goes cemetery stomping after a ten year quest, with new hints provided by Nacey, one of our SecondLife.com Just Genealogy friends. FindAGrave.com.  Judy Russell, the Legal Genealogist’s post Cemetery Photos – Permission Required? Elizabeth Shown Mills’  Proving Identity post on the Evidence Explained Facebook Page linked to her Historical Biographers Research Process laminated QuickSheet. Guest Bill West of the West in New England Blog joined the webinar to discuss his series of posts on his War of 1812 pensioner ancestors. The Federation of Genealogical Society is raising $3.5 million dollars to digitize these textual files at National Archives I in Washington, DC. See Preserve the 1812 Pensions. Ancestry.com is matching donations dollar for dollar. Once digitized, the pensions are posted on free on Fold3 for surname letters A and B, they are currently working on C. We work through Bill’s ancestor’s file page by page. Lightening Round Topic: “What new use of your iPad, smart phone or tablet did you learn this week?”

Happy family tree climbing!
