Documenting Cherokee Heritage

The Friends of the National Archives Southeast Region are pleased to sponsor the presentation "Documenting Cherokee Heritage” with Linda Woodward Geiger, cg, cgl, October 8th, 2013.

Summary: Learn what you need to know about your suspected Cherokee ancestor before you can begin documenting your Cherokee heritage, available records, and why you might be 100% Cherokee and never be able to become a member of one of the three federally recognized Cherokee Nations.

Presenter: Linda Woodward Geiger is an associate of the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG), holding credentials as a Certified Genealogistsm and as a Certified Genealogical Lecturersm. Linda is a nationally known speaker, author, and historical researcher. She has spoken at genealogy conferences and seminars in over twenty-five states, and is a coordinator and staff at the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR). She currently serves as president of Friends of the National Archives Southeast Region (FNAS); as hostess for webinars sponsored by Georgia Genealogical Society (GGS), FNAS, and Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS); and as webmaster for FNAS.
