Farms, Factories & Defective: The "Other" Census Schedules

The Friends of the National Archives Southeast Region are pleased to sponsor the presentation "Farms, Factories & Defective: The ‘Other’ Census Schedules” with Amy John Crow, CG, on Tuesday, April 8th, 2014.

Summary: When we speak of using the census, we generally mean the population schedule. Some census years had other schedules taken at the same time. These include schedules about agriculture, industry, and even people deemed to be "defective." These "other" schedules can shed light on the lives our ancestors led.

Presenter: Amy Johnson Crow is a Genealogical Content Manager for Ancestry.com. She's a Certified Genealogist and an active lecturer and author. Amy earned her Masters of Library and Information Science degree at Kent State University. Her roots run deep in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. Amy loves to help people discover the joys of learning about their ancestors and she thinks that there are few things better than a day in a cemetery.
