- Date: Wednesday, March 2, 2016
- Time: 7:00 PM Central
- Presenter: Cari A. Taplin, CG, is related to Roy Rogers. Or at least the stories her grandparents told her as a child said so. As a result, she has been working on finding her true heritage since the year 2000. She is a native of Wood County, Ohio now living near Austin, Texas.
Webinar Description: Taking information from deeds, patents, bounty land warrants and other land documents and translating it to a particular time and place can help you understand the ancestors behind the records and analyze a research problem.
Participants will learn about the importance of understanding geography and land records, see a variety of maps useful in identifying ancestors’ land, hear the nuances of the two primary land survey systems in the US, see mini-case studies to demonstrate the land topics presented, and finish with a brief discussion of mapping software and websites helpful in land research.
