Scottish ViC Speakers Chris Halliday & Christine Woodcock: Researching Highland Ancestors

Chris Halliday of www.scotlandsgenealogy.com is a family historian based in Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands. A former Family History Leader with the Highland Archive in Inverness, he has also spoken at Who Do You Think You Are? Live events. With Highland and Lowland ancestry, Chris is familiar with many of the resources that can aid your search for your Scottish roots.

Chris will be presenting a talk on Researching Your Highland Ancestors during the Scottish ViC (virtual conference). He can help us sort out the numerous Highland surnames and how to know which records to consult to find out about our ancestors from the north of Scotland.

Chris' will be talking as part of the Scottish ViC (virtual conference) on Saturday, January 27th, 2018.

Christine Woodcock is a genealogy educator with an expertise in the Scottish records. although Christine and her parents emigrated to Canada when Christine was quite young, she grew up immersed in Scottish culture. When speaking to groups and societies about Scottish research, Christine recognized that a large percentage of the Scots Diaspora had never been to Scotland. To allow researchers the opportunity to research in the records in their ancestral homeland, Christine began her business, Genealogy Tours of Scotland. Christine is the editor for British Connections, a quarterly newsletter for the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History.

During the Scottish ViC, Christine will be presenting a talk on our Scottish ancestors who were cleared from the Highlands and Western Isles and who subsequently emigrated to Canada, The Great Exodus: From the Highlands to Canada
