There were several known migrations of Britons to Mexico, but perhaps the most well-known are those Cornish miners that moved to the Mexican state of Hidalgo, who institutionalized football (soccer) in Mexico. Researching foreigners in Mexican records can present special challenges at times, especially if they were not Catholic, but there are a few tricks we have up our sleeves as genealogists which is what I’d like to cover in this talk. I’ll share a brief history as it pertains to British immigration to Mexico, review relevant record sets, and share helpful methodology for tracing this group of people (Britons) in Mexico.

Whether you are a beginner, or an experienced genealogist, learn how create and maintain research plans and logs to maximize your research time and increase success. Through examples, learn how to set up and maintain easy-to- use research plans and logs you can access no matter where you are. This session will demonstrate key steps such as deciding on a format (Excel spreadsheet, Google Drive, AirTable, or Evernote), creating needed columns, entering information, and using and maintaining the database.

If you are unable to attend the webinars live, and you are a member of ISBGFH, the recordings will be available in our members area of the Society's website. Not a member? Not a problem!
