J. H. ("Jay") Fonkert is a genealogical researcher, writer and educator based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Past President of the Minnesota Genealogical Society, he is managing editor of Minnesota Genealogist. Jay's research interests extend from the American Midwest to The Netherlands, England and Scandinavia. His teaching articles have appeared in Minnesota Genealogist, The Septs, NGS Magazine and Family Chronicle, and his research has been published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly.
